Week Five: The Arts District

This week our shoot took place near downtown in the Arts District.  It was an interesting walk because you had a mixture of older dwellings covered in colorful murals and futuristic high-rises.  What did surprise me was the amount of barbed wire I saw, it was everywhere.  If telling the truth the wire made me a bit nervous, but for some reason my camera was drawn to it that day.

Week Four: Shooting for Love

This week topic, mostly because of the timing, was based on the different aspects of love.  I had to be slightly more creative than usual because I just was not finding love in the location we shot.  So as I chose the pictures this week I noticed I kept coming up with Elvis songs for the titles of the photographs, so that is what I decided to create, a collection based on some of the music from Elvis.

Here are a few examples:

 "STOP Where You Are"

(Click to Listen)

"Little Sister"

(Click to Listen)

"Stuck on You"

Since I just could not seem to get literal photographs of love, I went for conceptual.

Enjoy!

Week Three: Part Two

This week I had a hard time deciding which picture to send in as my best shot.  I had a variety of categories from which to choose.  I had some cool reflections:
"Bar-e Reflections"

"Wax Job"

A couple of artistic shots ( at least they are artsy to me):

"Rainbow Rump"

"Crystal Ball"

But in the end, I chose the naughty girl coppers.  Just because they represent a new element in the local Las Vegas culture, a piece of the adult Disneyland and a common sight on todays Las Vegas Strip.

Week Three: Second Shoot

Our second shoot happened on the first day of rain Las Vegas has seen in almost sixty days.  Are we lucky or what?  What isn't lucky are the hardships some of our locals endure everyday.  I captured this photo as I was enjoying the Bellagio's Chinese New Year display.  I don't think the gentleman was feeling so lucky.
"Scrounging for a better New Year"

I also could not resist snapping these two ladies hard at work.  Policewoman's job is never done. :)

Week Two "The Sequel"

Photoshop CC is a new experience for me, so I am trying to learn it's ins and outs.  The learning is going slowly because there is so much one can do with this software it is overwhelming.  So I just like to play with it and see what comes of my efforts.  Vibrance and saturation are fun with extreme color combinations.

Week Two: First Shoot

This week, our location was Fremont street and the surrounding areas.  I had experienced Fremont Street last semester, so this time I expanded out a bit to the side streets near Container Park and the Murals.  It was great day until the wind decided to blow us off the map.  Here are couple of my favorite shots.
"Dwelling in Dumpsville"

"Vertical Escalation"
