Week Nine: Chinatown

This week was a little haywire.  I got back from camping on Tuesday, was up super early Wednesday morning and had to work that night until 5 am Thursday morning making it a 25-26 hour day.  I was too exhausted to make it for the shoot time Thursday morning, but I went later once I had recovered.  I had never been to Chinatown, so it was an interesting experience.

Spring Break!

I was able to get out of town for a few days over Spring break.  A few friends and I headed up to the Eagle Valley reservoir for a  little camping and freezing....I mean fishing.  The overnights and early mornings  temperatures dropped down into the teens and turned us all into popsicles, but the days were lovely and the company was enjoyable as always.  I took a few pictures of the valley and the surrounding areas, enjoy.

Week Eight: Up and Around Downtown

This week our class tackled Downtown Las Vegas with a new perspective.  We traveled farther beyond the Fremont area and discovered some untapped beauty and undisclosed rubbish.  We also used a Polaroid as a medium for some of our shots.  I personally did have a polaroid, but technology enabled those that did not to use the format on our phones, pretty ingenious if you ask me.  Again I uncovered parts of Vegas I would have never known existed if it wasn't for this great class.  Here are a few pics from our adventure:

And last, but not least, this is Kennedy.  Right downtown is Hydrant Park.  It is a nice grassy park for dogs to run and play in.  They offer doggie day care and the dogs were so well behaved.  This was just something you would not expect to see downtown.

Week Seven: Getting High in Las Vegas

This week we took a trip straight up, to the top of the Stratosphere.  It was a rather humorous adventure.  I was enclosed by glass and still would tip tow to the edge of the window with a fear of falling.  From that height you can see the vastness of the valley, but at the same time everything looks miniature in statue.  On the second level, where you can view those experiencing the rides,  I felt more secure in my footing, but felt nauseous when watching the rides in action.  I did not even need to be on the ride feel their effects.  Stratosphere is definitely not for the faint of heart.

Week Six: North Strip

This week we journeyed to the north end of the strip.  We started near Circus Circus.  I had not been inside that joint since I was probably 12 years old, now I remember why.  It was very dark and dank within the resort and I was unable to get quality pictures without a flash.  So we headed south toward the Encore and the Wynn.  One could definitely feel the Asian influence throughout the Encore, Wynn seemed to have a more European feel.  I was entranced by the light fixtures this week, here are a few examples:

The following photograph is also a light fixture, but from Circus Circus.
